Zanara combines in her paintings her passion for folklore, legends and myths

Interview with Zanara

By Julia Jarvis

Zanara’s works appear in private collections of art lovers across multiple countries worldwide. For years, she has been living and working in her studio in East London.

What I create is a reflection of the combination of my passion for folklore, legends and myths, mysticism, quantum physics, alchemy and the meaning of life and death. I try to recall the knowledge that I think we, as mankind have lost on the way of “progress” and – Love. In short I paint life, or at least the way I see it. My characters are abstract and I try to give them a face and form. I do not paint portraits and landscapes, I paint symbols, emotions and situations coming from other worlds, let me put it this way. I personally define my style as a primitive-naive decorative, with a strong folklore elements influence and a great deal of symbols.
